Red Square Deli: Your Authentic Russian Food Haven in Tampa

Really great authentic Russian deli, I would probably say the best in the Tampa area. I visit here as often as I can. Pelmeni in various flavors is what I normally get but they also have great salmon, a massive array of desserts, and all sorts of little specialty Russian and Soviet bloc foods. The staff is always very friendly, and converse equally well in English as well as Russian. I dont speak Ukrainian or I would have tried that as well. :) I wish they had more locations because this is a great spot for anyone feeling nostalgic, homesick, or wanting to try something new and different. You wont be disappointed!!

It has been a while since I visited the Russian deli. They were a part of my food prep rotation along with Indian, Viet, Latino and Chinese markets starting some 30 years ago. The owners wife is no longer there and he is older, more fragile and seems weary. Aging is no fun, and I did not pry regarding the absent wife. The shelfs are not as full, the lights are dimmer but they still had many of my favorite products. Today I got some Gypsey Bacon. It's best for flavoring dishes with a unique texture and flavor. I use it in my yellow rice and in my beans. The other bacon is my favorite, name escapes me, wider and cut thinner, I used it all the time for special recipes and for wrapping foods, because it cooks quickly and has awesome caramelization. Next was some Cold Smoked Rainbow Trout, Black Mullberry Preserves, 100% Pure Polish Honey and Ketchup. I know the toxic things Heinz puts in their ketchup, so I jump at the chance of buying untampered products. I like the variety of dried and cured sausages from Europe. It was my secret place to buy excellent caviar at the best rates. At Christmas, stunning decorative wine bottles that delight guests and are great gifts. Most often I was bringing home some type of imported smoked fish. There is a selection of cured deli hams, sweets, jarred grocery products as well as flours and grains. Located in a strip mall west of Dale Mabry on Waters Ave.. This small store has many memories for me. It's a place that I always look forward to going and discovering a new unknown. It seems on the decline, I do not know how much longer the place will be there. He and I grew old and life is more limited. Come get ya some, while you can. I'm sure he would appreciate the business.

This little gem of a shop had lots of interesting foods, snacks, and drinks to choose from. The shopkeeper warmly returned my greeting when I said hello, and left us to our own devices while we shopped, but still stayed nearby just in case we needed assistance. The Google Translate app on my phone was very useful to help me read the Russian descriptions and ingredients on items that weren't translated. It was also helpful to know that production and expiration dates are in DD/MM/YY format. Everything we looked at was still well before its "best before" date. The store looked and smelled clean, and the shopkeeper was quiet but very polite. I look forward to shopping here again!

Love getting food from here. A great selection of eastern European food. From soda to jelly, cold cuts to caviar..everything taste so good. If it was not 20 miles away we be The r more often. Oh...the chocolate is amazing with liquor or vodka centers.

We come here for the Russian staples my mom grew up with and that I grew up loving. Their core products are always in stock and over the years new products get added too. We always have nice conversations with the owners and those who work there- always pleasant and friendly. You get a little gift with purchase- a nice bar of chocolate, etc. Always excited to go there!

Small store with a great variety of products. Owners are nice and wlelcoming. I am not Russian but I love their food and sweets. Close to home and I'll def be back. The snacks were delicious!

The best store with European food that I know around. You can find everything from all kind of meat products to nice deserts here with taste you are missing for so long. The owner and family always pleasant to communicate with and 100% helpful.

Wonderful store, been coming here for 3-4 years! My favorite for smoked meats and fish, cottage cheese, sunflower oil, Georgian wine, and buckwheat among other delicious finds. Both shop keepers are lovely and, as a Ukrainian American woman, I enjoy talking to them! Do not believe the lies mentioned by others.
